I wanted to take a moment to thank those who lost a loved one or family member who served in the Armed Services because that is what Memorial Day is about. Those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. It always pains my husband when someone thanks him for his service on Memorial Day and he appreciates it, but he will gripe privately that this day is for those that died in combat and not about his service which is what Veteran's Day is for. I can understand his frustration. Memorial Day has great significance to me because of the US military and UN forces who fought in the Korean war. So many lost their lives fighting for my country in order for us to be free from the communist North. There isn't a day that goes by that I am not grateful for that. My husband and I will be visiting a military cemetery as we have since I entered this country to pay our respects to those who died for this country. It's something similar I've done at the Korean War Museum in Seoul since I was a little girl and now has become tradition here in the US. My father would take my sister and I every year on the anniversary of the end of the Korean war to remind us that if it weren't for the US and the UN forces that he might've died as an infant or we could've been living in an oppressed communist state. I hope someday to travel to Washington DC to see the Korean War Memorial there.
