


I didn't have any cheerleading uniforms in the shop, and my old one is somewhere in storage. If I ever find it, rest assured I'll absolutely take photos in it.
In the meantime, if you asked me if cheerleading has always been a female-led sport I would emphatically say yes and definitely lose that round of Jeopardy.
Cheerleading was always a men's sport - the chanting, the cheering, the frat-style camaraderie. It wasn't until the 1940s, when men were off to war, that women began fulfilling the roles. A famous camp in the 1950s, run by a former male cheerleader, was the origin of the cheerleading jumps and pom-poms we know today, effectively defining the ultra-femme, light-on-her-feet, image of cheerleaders we have today.
